Dubai Airport (DXB) Terminal 2 - Lounge and Terminal Guide
On this page

Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2 is a compact terminal serving flydubai and a wide range of regional carriers. Facilities are simpler than in Terminals 1 and 3, and all gates use bus boarding rather than jet bridges.

There are two lounges in Terminal 2: the marhaba Lounge (a contract lounge open to all passengers for a fee or via memberships) and the flydubai Business Class Lounge (airline‑operated and limited to eligible guests). Both operate 24 hours a day.

This guide covers every option, with details on access, pricing, locations, and amenities, plus practical tips for connections to other terminals, as well as available airport services.

Terminal 2 Overview

Airline Operations

Terminal 2 is the main operational base for flydubai, alongside more than 20 regional and low‑cost carriers (including Nepal Airlines, RwandAir and Wizzair). Traffic is primarily short and medium haul.

Passengers board a Flydubai aircraft via mobile stairs on the tarmac under a clear blue sky at Dubai International Airport. Several Flydubai planes with blue and orange tail designs are parked in the background, with ground staff and vehicles servicing the aircraft.

Note: Some flydubai flights also operate from Terminal 3, which tend to be flights to Europe, Central Asia and Southeast Asia. Check your departure or arrival terminal before traveling.

Terminal Layout & Facilities

  • Boarding: All remote stands with bus boarding.

  • Gates: F‑gates group (F1-F12) serving 40+ remote stands.

  • Footprint: Smaller and more basic than T1 and T3; most facilities on a single level.

  • Core amenities: Duty free, prayer rooms, baby‑care rooms, smoking areas and free Wi‑Fi. (No sleep pods or airside hotel.)

Summary of Available Paid Lounges

Terminal 2 hosts just one lounge bookable directly or via lounge membership programs:

  • marhaba Lounge

(The only other lounge, the flydubai Business Class Lounge, is accessible to flydubai business class passengers and Emirates Gold and Platinum status members.)

Terminal 2 Family Facilities

Family amenities in Terminal 2 are basic and far more limited than those in T1 and T3. There are a few baby-care rooms with changing tables and nursing space, plus generally stroller friendly corridors, but that’s about it.

There are no dedicated play zones, or family spaces, anywhere in the terminal. Therefore, families passing through T2 should plan to bring their own entertainment and use the baby rooms for essentials only.

Overnight at Terminal 2

Terminal 2 stays busy around the clock, but it isn’t well equipped for proper overnight rest. Unlike T1 and T3, it has no sleep pods, airside hotel rooms, or dedicated quiet zones, and nearly all seating is upright. While 24-hour cafés and the duty free area remain open, the terminal environment generally offers little in the way of privacy or rest.

Passengers queueing at Dubai Airport Terminal 2 Gate F10, maintaining distance in a bright departure area with seating, information screens, and boarding gates visible.

If you have an overnight layover, your best bet is to either book lounge access or exit the airport and stay at a nearby hotel. The marhaba Lounge stays open 24 hours and at least provides reclined seating, food, drinks, and Wi-Fi, though it can get crowded during nights. The 24-hour flydubai Business Class Lounge is quieter and more comfortable but only available to eligible passengers. For real rest, consider the highly-rated Studio M Hotel Arabian Plaza or La Zona Continental Hotel, a 10- to 20-minute drive away.

Getting to Other Terminals

Terminal 2 is completely separate from Terminals 1 and 3 on the opposite side of the airfield, and it is not connected airside. Unlike T1 and T3 (which share walkways and shuttle buses), any transfer from T2 requires clearing immigration, exiting the terminal, and re-clearing security at the next terminal.

A free landside shuttle bus runs 24 hours between terminals every 15-20 minutes, with a typical journey time of 20-30 minutes (depending on traffic). Taxis are faster and cost around AED 60-100 (US$16-27), while the metro does not serve T2.

Helpful tip: Tight connections between T2 and T1/T3 are risky, so only attempt them with long layovers or separate tickets that allow plenty of buffer time.

Summing Up

Terminal 2 is more compact than the mega terminals elsewhere at Dubai International Airport. It's two lounges, marhaba and flydubai, don't rival the luxury of those found in Terminal 1 and 3, but they provide what matters at T2: comfort and relief from the crowds. Business class passengers can enjoy a smooth start in the flydubai lounge, while others can count on the marhaba for paid access and the essentials.
