Airport Lounge Guide: Mersin Çukurova (COV) International Airport

Officially opened on August 10, 2024, Mersin Çukurova International Airport (COV) is becoming a vital travel hub for southern Turkey. Serving the Çukurova region, including major cities like Mersin, Adana, and Osmaniye, the airport was developed to replace the capacity-constrained Adana Şakirpaşan Airport. It boasts a modern design with an initial annual passenger capacity of 9 million, connecting this important industrial and agricultural area to domestic and international destinations.

If you're looking for a comfortable space to relax or catch up on work before your flight, this guide provides all the information you need on the available lounges throughout the airport.

Çukurova International Airport (COV) — Quick-fire Guide

  • Where is it? 20 km west of Tarsus, roughly equidistant (40–45 minutes by road) from the city centres of Adana and Mersin. The site sits just 14 km from the Çukurova motorway and 7 km from Yenice rail junction, so onward coach and rail links are straightforward.

  • Opening & role. Officially inaugurated on 10 August 2024 as the modern replacement for Adana Şakirpaşa Airport, COV has already taken the region’s entire commercial traffic.

  • Capacity & layout. Planned for 9 million passengers a year in phase 1, served by a single landside hall feeding two piers (one domestic, one international). Runway pair 03L/21R & 03R/21L each measure 3,500 m, long enough for fully-loaded wide-bodies.

  • Facilities to flag in a lounge guide.

    • Free airport-wide Wi-Fi (SSID: “COV-Free” – no password).

    • Airside shopping is run by duty-free giant Avolta; expect strong local-food gifting and a sizeable Turkish delight counter.

    • Two landside bus bays (Adana, Mersin, Tarsus) and metered taxis; no rail spur yet.

    • On-site parking for 3,500 vehicles, all contactless-payment enabled.

Turkish Airlines CIP Lounge

Tucked just beyond domestic security, the Turkish Airlines CIP Lounge is open 24 hours and majors on warm Anatolian hospitality rather than glitz. Early visitor write-ups report a bright, wood-toned space with runway views, plenty of power sockets and a hot-and-cold buffet that leans heavily on Turkish comfort food (menemen at breakfast, lentil soup and gözleme later in the day). Expect complimentary soft drinks, a quiet prayer room, fast Wi-Fi and a small business corner; what you won’t find are showers or a dedicated family zone. Entry is automatic for Turkish Airlines Business Class passengers and Star Alliance Golds, while Economy guests can buy their way in if capacity allows. AJet passengers can also get access.

Location: Located in the Domestic Terminal, after security.
