Singapore Changi Terminal 2: Lounges and Renovation Guide 2026-2027
Last Updated September 1, 2026

On this Page
Terminal 2 at Singapore Changi Airport is the main hub for Singapore Airlines’ regional flights across Southeast Asia, but a diverse mix of carriers also operate from here, offering both regional and long-haul routes.
In fact, more than half of the Star Alliance airlines serving Singapore use T2, making it a key gateway for alliance travelers as well as for those flying with non-alliance carriers such as Etihad Airways and Malaysia Airlines.
Terminal 2 fully reopened in late 2023 after undergoing a long-term expansion project, revealing a refreshed departure hall, larger garden spaces, and improved service and check-in technology.
Singapore Airlines' refurbished flagship SilverKris First Class Lounge at Terminal 2 reopened in early November 2025. However, the SilverKris Business Class and KrisFlyer Gold Lounges are still undergoing phased renovations through to 2027. That means lounge access may look a little different for premium passengers, especially during peak travel periods.
This guide outlines what’s open, what’s changing, and where to go for a seamless lounge experience.
Terminal 2 Overview
Airline Operations
This terminal is one of two that Singapore Airlines operates out of at Changi. While T3 hosts all long-haul Singapore Airlines flights, T2 is used for Singapore Airlines regional flights to:
Bangladesh
Japan (except SQ12 to Tokyo)
The Maldives

Southeast Asia
South Korea
Sri Lanka
It also serves these full-service (mainly Star Alliance) and budget carriers, including:
Air Canada

Firefly
IndiGo
Lufthansa
Malaysia Airlines
Peach Aviation
Royal Brunei Airlines
Sichuan Airlines
Starlux Airlines

Renovation Timeline and Impact
While Terminal 2’s expansion reopened to the public in November 2023, Singapore Airlines’ three T2 SilverKris lounges are undergoing a separate S$45 million (US$35 million) renovation project with staggered completion through 2027.
Once complete, the renovated lounges will offer improved comfort, privacy, and dining variety for premium and elite Singapore Airlines and Star Alliance passengers traveling through T2.
SilverKris First Class Lounge
Reopened early November 2025
New live cooking stations and upgraded shower suites
SilverKris Business Class Lounge
Phase 1 opened in April 2026 with partial amenities
Phase 2 is expected in September 2026, adding a full bar, nap area with recliners, and restroom facilities
Will offer 30% more space, new productivity pods, and a full-service bar with barista coffee and evening cocktails
KrisFlyer Gold Lounge
Currently open; renovation timeline postponed (originally H1 2026, current start date TBD)
When renovation begins, renovations are expected to double the capacity and introduce showers, restrooms, and more modern seating
Navigating Renovation Disruptions
If you are flying with Singapore Airlines or a Star Alliance airline from T2, you will still have access to premium lounge services, although you may need to travel between terminals.
Check in at T2
All Singapore Airlines passengers departing from T2 must check in there, regardless of which lounge they plan to use.
This applies to first and business class passengers and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and Star Alliance Gold members. The only exceptions are certain connecting passengers or PPS Club members who may be directed otherwise.
Travel to T3
After check-in, eligible passengers are encouraged to take the Skytrain to T3 to access Singapore Airlines' newer Business Class and KrisFlyer Gold lounges. These lounges offer upgraded design, enhanced privacy, and a wider range of food and beverage options compared to the older spaces in T2.
The Skytrain between Terminals 2 and 3 takes only 2-3 minutes and runs every few minutes from 5:00am-2:30am.
Tips for a smooth lounge experience
Confirm your lounge access and opening hours using the Singapore Airlines app 48 hours before departure
Plan for 20-30 extra minutes to check in, visit a T3 lounge, and return to your departure gate in T2
Buy a T3 SATS Premier Lounge pass through LoungePair if you are not eligible for the SilverKris or KrisFlyer Gold lounges
Summary of Available Paid Lounges
At Changi Airport Terminal 2, you have two options for paid access lounges where you can relax and enjoy a variety of amenities before your flight (with direct links here to buy access):
Our recommendation, however, is to budget, if you can, an extra 20-30 minutes to visit the SATS Premier Lounge in Terminal 3 instead. It was renovated in mid-2024 and is a superior lounge to both of the lounges listed above.

The lounge tends to get crowded during mid-afternoon and evening hours, especially on weekends.

Power outlets and USB ports are available at nearly every seat, though some older units may not function perfectly.
Lighting is dim throughout the lounge, which promotes relaxation but may not be ideal for work.

Helpful Tips:
The Signature Bar serves barista coffee 06:00-10:00 (6am-10am) and cocktails 17:30-01:00 (5:30pm-1am), so visit during these hours for the best service experience.
Ask early if you’d like one of the rest pods; there are only four, and they’re ideal for longer layovers.
Don’t miss the live cooking station, which serves Singaporean favorites like XO carrot cake fresh to order.
For privacy, use the soundproof booths or productivity pods away from the main seating areas.

Terminal 2 Family Facilities
Terminal 2 is one of the most family-friendly terminals in Changi Airport. Here are some places to check out:
Baby care rooms: 11 rooms, the most in any terminal, equipped with hot water dispensers, changing tables, privacy spaces for breastfeeding, and diaper disposal facilities
Wonderfall fountain: A 14‑meter-tall digital waterfall feature and immersive visual display, ideal for family photos and calming kids; located in the T2 central departure hall. Take a look at the video by Changi Airport below:
Indoor playground: The ‘2 Bears Hideout’ is a free, fully air‑conditioned play area for children aged 1-12, located in the Departure Transit Lounge North.
Fit&Fun Zone: A calming, sensory-friendly space where kids can swing, explore and self-regulate.
Sunflower garden: Cheerful themed garden with flowers and photo ops
TV lounge: Watch live sporting events while you charge your devices at more than 20 seats
Getting to Other Terminals
Terminal 2 is in a great central spot, so getting around Changi is easier:
To Terminals 1 and 3
Take the free Skytrain (runs every 1-4 minutes from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.); the ride takes about 2–4 minutes
From 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., the Skytrain stops running; during this time, you can take a free shuttle or walk between terminals, but you'll need to be outside the secure zone (you’ll need to clear immigration to enter Singapore)
To Terminal 4
Take the shuttle bus every 10-15 minutes (from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.) or every 31 minutes (overnight); the ride takes 15-20 minutes
To Jewel
Walk 5-10 minutes via the Level 3 link bridge (outside the secure zone; you’ll need to clear immigration to enter Singapore)
Summing Up
While Singapore Airlines' flagship SilverKris lounges complete their phased renovations through 2027, solid alternatives and easy Skytrain links to T3 can keep the premium experience intact.
Even with lounge renovations underway, T2 offers enough charm (from indoor playgrounds to immersive water features) to make your wait enjoyable.
